The night showcases some of Kaylan’s artwork made over the years and brings focus to her 4-part series, “The Healing Hearts” series. Each painting in the art telling depicts a heart painted across two canvases, leaving a gap directly down the middle like a broken heart. The canvases are strung together with string and other materials, a symbolic way of answering the question:

“What is it that can mend a broken heart?”

Each painting holds its own theme of a heart mended through time,

by way of hope,

and by way of faith.

For the night’s interactive activity, we will be stringing all 4 canvases together and attaching question cards to the art. These questions are meant for you to reflect upon what healing looks like to you and means to you.

This creative act of stringing the series together is a symbol that healing doesn’t just take place alone, but with the help of others and in community.
